Before you ask.

Is it really not a template?

Really. There is no stock layout behind it and no library of sections to pick from: the whole site is designed and written from your answers each time. Two cleaners in the same town get two different sites, because they told it different things.

What do I need to have ready?

What you do, where you do it, what you charge if you publish prices, and what makes you different. Reviews and photographs help a lot, and you can paste reviews straight from wherever they live. It takes about a minute to answer, and every extra detail makes the site better.

Will it make things up about my business?

No. Facts come only from your answers. It will not add a review, a star rating, an accreditation or a year you did not give it. What it does not know, it leaves out.

How long does it take?

A few minutes to build, and you can watch the page being written while it happens. Changes you make yourself, like words, photographs and colours, show up in about a second.

What is a credit?

Every website comes with its own credits each month for the changes you ask for: 20 on Free, 50 on Basic and 100 on Pro, doubled in a paid plan’s first month. A change usually takes 10 to 50, depending on how much it involves, and you are only charged for what was done. Building a website uses none, and changing words, photographs and colours yourself never uses any. Need more? Buy 300 for £5. Credits reset on the 1st of every month.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes, on Basic and Pro. Every site starts on its own Atelier address, and connecting a domain you own takes one DNS record; the certificate is looked after for you.

Is a plan for my account or for one website?

For one website. Each site has its own plan, so a second business on its own domain is a second plan, and your free sites cost nothing.

What happens to my visitors’ data?

Enquiries they send are stored for you to read and nobody else. Analytics sets no cookie unless you choose to count returning visitors, and then each visitor is asked first, in a banner drawn in your site’s own design.

How do I start?

Join early access and we will send you an invite code. With it you make an account with your email and a password, describe your business, and your website is built in a couple of minutes. Your first site is free, and you only pay for a site when you want its extras.
